ORIGIN STORY
Growing up in Ohio,
I suffered horrible side effects from my period. I begged to go on birth control to alleviate the pain, only to be told I'd feel empowered to have sex (which is a conversation in itself).
It was only when I was sobbing on the toilet totally naked, vomiting in the trash can (what a sight, huh?) that my mom agreed to take me to a doctor.
My agony finally convinced her BC was for more than preventing babies. 13 years of menstruating later, I'm ready to change the narrative.
